Race schedule and events !

We are quickly approaching the big day! We are busy getting details ready, registering volunteers, getting sponsors for the kiddos and working with the schools. PHEW! We wanted to provide everyone with a run-down of what the day will consist of. Please take a look at the schedule below.

Pre-registration for 10 & 5K – Saturday November 12th @ 5:30pm in Athletic Center of El Tigre

10K race begins at 8am

5K race begins at 9am

2.5 K Family Walk & Bike Parade begins at 9:45am

Everyone must register at least 30 minutes prior to starting time! Arriving to the Athletic Center, our registration tables will be to your left and will be separated by age groups. Please be prepared to wait a few moments as payments are recieved, emails recorded and numbers given out.

Once you are registered, pass to the t-shirt station and get your uniform!

Starting at 9am we will have activities for the kids – face painting, games, cookie decorating with Pie in the Sky, music & a fun photo booth!!

You can still help!!

By contributing $20USD to sponsor a child in the run, you will help benefit our programs and get more kids out on the track!

The fee to run in the race is $200pesos/$20USD and many local families cannot afford that. We want to get as many kiddos as we can to this event! They would love to run or peddle for PEACE and your money will directly benefit our programming.

Our goal is 250 sponsors and so far we have 8 – can you help??

Do you know what we do here at PEACE? We wanted to share some information with you so that YOU can get to know us! By supporting this event, you are supporting our PEACE programs and contributing to the betterment of communities in Banderas Bay. Thank you for helping us help others!!

Ayuda a los Animales – Help the Animals

Responds to the challenges of the unwanted and unhealthy pet population in Mexico by providing education and free mobile spay/neuter programs.

Animal Clinic Snapshot:

•  2 vets and 3 PEACE employees perform an average of 80 surgeries in 4 days
• 80 families are introduced to PEACE Mexico
• 4 days of animal education classes are provided for local children.

Orgullo en la Comunidad – Community Pride

This program helps create a sense of responsibility for environmental protection and community cleanliness through
recycling and community beautification projects completed by Work for Food participants and volunteers.

Work for Food snapshot:

• 100 participants perform 200 hours of community beautification projects a week
• 1000 meals are distributed to local families weekly
• Streets & beaches are cleaned

Casa Comunidad – The Community House

This program focuses on educational opportunities in the community by working with the public school system. Dynamic educational experiences are provided for students, like After-School programs & creative workshops. Educational opportunities are also provided to youth and adults not enrolled in formal education.

Casa Comunidad Snapshot:

• Each week 10+ children who were not previously enrolled in school, attend our Alternative School in Casa Campesina.
• Each day, 3 staff members engage 90 students in 4 hours of dance & literary awareness with our Celebrate the Beat initiavtive.
• Each year, 1000+ students in over 5 towns participate in environmental education.

Big winners!

Each year children & parents, students & teachers, family & friends join together to participate in our annual Carrera for PEACE. We are grateful for each and every one of them and their ongoing efforts to support PEACE! We try to reward the participants as best we can, to give them an incentive to come back with even more the following year! Each participant recieves a Carrera tshirt and a chance to win fun raffle prizes. We try to make it as fun as possible!

The way it works:

The race costs a minimum of $200pesos

Each student goes out in search of sponsors for those $200pesos. Take your PEACE sponsor form (ask your teacher about it) and start asking neighbors, friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. They can each donate $10pesos, $20pesos, $100pesos towards your race. You need at LEAST $200pesos to enter the carrera, but it is not limited to that!

Fill up a tin can, a ziploc, an envelope, a lunchbox, whatever you can find, with your sponsor money and bring it to the race with you.

Get a good night’s sleep, your bicycle decorated, your favorite running shoes ready and we will see you there!

Prizes will be given for:

Most funds raised per school (participating schools only)

Most funds raised overall

Most creative fundraising container

Winners in each category of the races

Best decorated bicycle

Raffle prizes

Cada año padres y estudiantes, familias y
amigos se reúnen para participar en nuestra carrera anual para PEACE. Estamos
muy agradecidos con cada uno de ellos por su esfuerzo en apoyar a PEACE.
Tratamos de recompensar a los participantes de la mejor forma posible para
darles un incentivo a que vuelvan con más para el siguiente año. Cada
participante recibe una playera y la oportunidad de ganar premios en una rifa. Tratamos
de hacerlo lo más divertido posible!.

Así funciona

La carrera cuesta  $200pesos mínimo

Cada estudiante busca patrocinadores para
esos  $200pesos. Toma tu hoja de patrocinadores
pídela a tu maestro/a y comienza a pedirles a tus vecinos, amigos, tías, tíos y
primos. Así cada uno puede donar $10pesos, $20pesos, $100pesos para tu carrera.
Necesitas por  lo menos  $200pesos para participar en la carrera, pero
no hay límite en eso!

Llena una lata, una,  ziploc, un sobre, una lonchera o lo que puedas
encontrar para guardar  tu dinero de los
patrocinadores y tráelo contigo a la carrera.

Duerme bien, trae tu bicicleta
decorada,  prepara tus tenis favoritos y
nos vemos allá!

Se premiarán a los siguientes:

Escuela que recauda más fondos  (solo escuelas participantes)

Quien recaude más fondos en general

El contenedor de fondos más creativo

Ganadores de por categoría que participe en
las carreras

Here are some of last year’s winners at the awards ceremony:

Last year, some of our favorite prizes went out to top fundraiser of individual schools, top fundraiser over-all and raffle winners. The prizes included movie passes, surfing lessons, paddle board tour and swimming lessons. This year we have many more suprises!!

We are excited to announce the date for our 5th Annual PEACE Carrera!

Join PEACE on Sunday, November 13th for our 5th Annual PEACE Carrera! A family-fun day of races, contests, games, food and drink at El Tigre Golf Course in Nuevo Vallarta.  Participants have the opportunity to run or peddle for PEACE in a variety of runs, walks and bike events. From silly to serious, there’s a heat for everyone who’s committed to healthy bodies and healthy communities.

The schedule of events, sponsors and details of the day will be released soon. In the meantime, to register in advance please get in touch with Nicole Majewski at nicole@peacemexico.org. The rate is $200pesos for the 10K, 5K and Family Walk. All proceeds benefit community programming in the areas of education, ecology and animal protection.

PEACE, (Protection, Education, Animals, Culture, Environment) established in 2005, is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization made up of three main programs which focus on education, animal well-being, and environmental protection in the Bay of Banderas, Nayarit, Mexico. PEACE works hand-in-hand with communities in Mexico to provide holistic education, combined with community action programs that enable people to improve their quality of life as well as their financial stability
